Five rookie bull riders have made more than $30,000 in the 2022 season and Lukasey Morris has been the best of them all. The Resistol Rookie race is wide open despite Morris’ $25,000 lead because he will miss significant time with a leg injury.
1. Lukasey Morris, $78,232
The 19-year-old had a good Fourth of July run before breaking his leg at the Livingston Roundup Rodeo (Montana). He won more than $10,000 in total for his third place finishes at both the St. Paul Rodeo (Oregon) and the World’s Oldest Rodeo (Arizona). Morris is 36-for-98 with an average score of 81.07 points in the 2022 season.
2. Bubba Greig, $53,079
Greig is currently No. 14 in the PRCA World Standings, but has struggled a bit lately riding just 2-of-13 bulls since the Reno Rodeo Xtreme Bulls on June 16. Greig has 21 qualified rides this season and 11 of those have been marked 85 points or higher.
3. Jack Gilmore, $36,783
Gilmore won two checks at the beginning of June at the Durant Pro Rodeo (Oklahoma) and the Crossett Riding Club Rodeo (Arkansas), but has not rodeoed since the Crystal Springs Xtreme Bulls (South Dakota) on June 22. He is No. 34 in the PRCA World Standings.
4. Ouncie Allen, $30,255
Allen had the best Fourth of July of any rookie bull rider. He made qualified rides at the World’s Oldest Rodeo, Oakley Independence Day Rodeo (Utah) and the St. Paul Rodeo. All of those rides were in the 80s and all of them earned him a check of more than $2,000, the largest being over $3,800 for his second place finish in Oakley City.
5. Wade Berg, $30,149
Berg won three checks the weekend of June 23-26 which included two third place finishes. Over the Fourth of July run, he placed in one rodeo.
