Saddle bronc rider K’s Thomson will miss significant time because of hip surgery.

The 2021 Resistol Rookie of the Year last rode in Clovis and had made $6,239 in 2022 before he was shut down with the injury. The previous year, he finished No. 16 and made nearly $74,000.

“Excited to be on the mend! Doctor found it was a bit worse than we hoped for once he got in there. He had to do a bit of extra work to fix it, but he was pleased with how the operation went,” he wrote on Instagram Tuesday night. “It’ll be a bit of a longer recovery than I was hoping for, but we’re expecting to be back rodeoing in about 8 months!”
