Rylie Halsell is Crowned Santa Maria Elks Rodeo Queen

Rylie Halsell was crowned Rodeo Queen at the Santa Maria Elks Rodeo.

The rodeo queen competition in Santa Maria has raised more than fifteen million dollars for many different non-profit organizations.

The queen campaign in Santa Maria is unique in the fact that each candidate represents a non-profit organization of their choice with the goal of raising as much money as possible within the allotted period of time given.

The candidate who raises the most money for their chosen organization is then crowned the queen.

Rylie chose to represent St. Joseph High School where the money she raised would be put towards their scholarship fund.

“This is a charity competition, you don’t do it to win, you do it to give back to the community and I’m proud of all the other girls too,” Rylie said.

As the Santa Maria Elks Rodeo Queen Rylie will participate in the Golden Circle of Champions in December at the National Finals Rodeo.
