“Every year we bring the best of the best to AT&T Stadium for RFD-TV’s The American,” said Randy Bernard.  “The PBR has some of the best bull riders riding the rankest bulls, so once again, we’ll have the top 10 bull riders in the world competing at The American.”

The PBR's youngest World Champion, Jess Lockwood, 20, was crowned 2017 champion this past Sunday afternoon at T-Mobile Arena when challengers, and two of his closest friends on tour, Cooper Davis (3rd place) and Derek Kolbaba (2nd place) bucked off in the final round. "I really don't pay attention that much to what the other guys are doing," Lockwood, whose father Ed pulled his bull rope all six rounds, said. "It all comes down to your bull riding and how you do." Also joining Lockwood in the series of qualifiers is Jose Vitor Leme (7th place) who won the 2017 World Finals event title as the only rider to go a perfect 6-for-6 at the five-day event.

"The Iron Cowboy paired with the American in our 5th year together should be a highlight on the 2018 schedule for all western sports fans," said Sean Gleason, CEO, PBR. "Last week's incredibly exciting PBR World Finals showed the emergence of great young bull-riding talent, and we're looking forward to seeing these new stars compete alongside veteran cowboys in one of the best events of the year."

About RFD-TV's The American:

Taking place at Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium on Feb. 25, 2018, RFD-TV’s The American is the richest single-day event in the history of rodeo. With $2 million on the line, the best athletes in the world will gather in Arlington, Texas to battle for the biggest single paycheck of their lives. The American invites the top athletes from the 2017 PRCA, WPRA and PBR world standings and pits them against underdogs who advance from the American Semi-Finals. If a nationally ranked athlete wins, the prize is $100,000, but if a qualifier from the Semi-Finals – or an athlete who earned an exemption – wins THE AMERICAN, that contestant shares in a $1 million bonus pool.
